 what is hypothermia?

 

Hypothermia is a potentially dangerous drop in body temperature, usually caused by prolonged exposure to cold temperatures. The risk of cold exposure increases as the winter months arrive. But if you're exposed to cold temperatures on a spring hike or capsized on a summer sail, you can also be at risk of hypothermia.

 

 

ENCLOSED SPACE 

 

 An Enclosed Space is defined as a space that has the following characteristics, where is an unsafe oxygen level and/or toxic gas or other vapor, Limited openings for entry and exit, Unfavorable natural ventilation

Not designated for continuous worker occupancy

It would include Oil and water tanks, Closed cargo holds, Cofferdams, Duct keels, Void spaces, Pump rooms in Oil tankers and the like.



DECK SEAL

 

 Deck seal: Purpose of the deck seal is to stop the gases to return back which are coming from the blower to cargo tanks. Normally wet type deck seals are used. A demister is fitted to absorb the moisture carried away by the gases.
